FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT REQUIREMENTS ARE THERE TO JOIN FBLA?

  • Active Members shall be secondary students who become members while enrolled in business and/or business-related fields, who accept the purpose of FBLA, subscribe to its creed, demonstrate their willingness to contribute to good school-community relations, and possess qualities for employment. Active members shall pay dues as established by FBLA and may participate in area, state, and national events, in accordance with the guidelines of the Area, State, and National Awards Program, hold office in accordance with ARTICLE VI, and otherwise represent their state and local chapters as approved by their respective state and local advisers.

  • Membership is open to all grade levels of Seven Lakes students, but 10th - 12th grade students must have completed or must be currently enrolled in a business or marketing class.  CLICK HERE to see what courses meet our Business Requirement. If because of computer scheduling, a student is scheduled for a business class in the spring of their Sophomore Year, they may join FBLA in the fall. However, they will be removed from the membership roster and not be allowed to compete in the spring since they were not placed in a business class in the fall of their junior year.  This same rule applies to senior members.  All juniors and/or seniors must have taken at least a one-semester business class to be in FBLA. If a paid member is removed for not taking a business class, no fees (example membership or competition) will be refunded.

WHAT IS FBLA?

  • FBLA is a business-oriented organization that inspires students to lead and educate the community. FBLA helps high school students prepare for careers in business through academic competitions (FBLA Competitive Events), leadership development, and educational workshops. FBLA offers over 60 academic events that cover technology, public speaking, business, finance, management, and more.  FBLA also works to prepare you for college through leadership, community service, and academic activities. Students are able to attend networking events with accomplished business professionals at conferences and community service projects.

HOW MUCH TIME DOES FBLA TAKE UP?

  • Our chapter meets around once a month, typically on the first Tuesday of the month. We also have other annual activities such as the Area Workshop as well as volunteering at the Seven Lakes Open House. Apart from that, there's not much to worry about!

  • The Chapter may assess dues from the members in addition to dues assessed by FBLA-PBL, Inc. Dues paid by each member are $50 for the 2023-2024 school year and shall be determined by the combination of National dues, State dues, and Chapter dues. National dues of members shall be forwarded directly to the FBLA national office or shall be submitted through state chapters at the discretion of the state chapter, as submitted by the Chapter Adviser.
